Born in Toronto, Canada, Sickick began his music career by posting his music on various social media and video platforms without ever showing his face. He creates his own genre called “SickHop” in which he mixes other genres, including trap, bass, reggaeton, electro and R&B. He released his first video titled “Beyonce - Survivor (SICKICK TRAP VERSION)” on his YouTube channel SickickMusic on December 27, 2013, which currently has 3.6 million views. Afterward, he released other remix videos, including a video titled “Tuesday - ILoveMakonnen ft. Drake (SICKICK VERSION),” which also has 3.6 million views. The masked artist has 4.5 million followers on Instagram, 4.8 million followers on TikTok and 3.73 million subscribers on YouTube. He promotes his music by using #SpreadtheSickness in hopes that his fans, also known as the Sickick Army, will spread his music.

Sickick had a rough moment in his life before starting his career. According to a video he posted on Twitter, the artist stated that he lived with depression and anxiety and struggled with getting out of bed. He said that the only thing that helped him was music. Whenever he got anxiety attacks, he would run to his studio and force himself to create a song. Over time, he created a body of work known as Sickick.

Sickick’s colorful masks represent his fears as crowds and fame once terrified him, and he personalizes them so that each one has his signature logo over his right eye. By gaining confidence, he inspires his fans to face their fears and accomplish their dreams, according to his about page on his Facebook Sickick Music.

Now, Sickick is becoming more popular on the Internet and in the music industry. On October 31, 2018, he released Chapter 1 of his EP F.E.A.R. (F**k Everything and Run) on YouTube, which gained 1.1 million views. He released Chapter 2 with separate videos, including “Momofuku,” “Purple Grass,” “Room 112,” “Serum” and “Hurt.” He has over 700,000 followers on Spotify with over 4 million monthly listeners.

One of his biggest releases was his chill trap remix of Madonna’s 1998 “Frozen” which was posted on TikTok on March 30, 2021. His remix went viral, and according to Variety, it created 125,000 TikToks. Madonna then took interest in Sickick’s remix, and she and Sickick released the official remix on December 19, 2021. At one point after its release, the remix was No. 20 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, but it climbed to No. 15. Then, on March 10, 2022, Madonna released an official music video of the remix featuring Nigerian singer Fireboy DML. The video reached 11 million views. The “Frozen” remix also has over 80 million listeners on Spotify.

Despite growing in popularity, Sickick is surprisingly “underrated” due to a lack of exposure; however, he has toured around the world, creating new fans that love his music. His recent concert was the Sick Summer Tour, which took place in Europe from June 4 to July 16. His next tour Music Saved My Life will begin from August 20 to September 24.

Just as Sickick’s fans support him and his music, other fans can support small musicians through SongMe. Musicians can post their concerts on the SongMe app and add a time and location for fans to know when and where they are playing. Download the app and build your music career.
